How to add a popup to your Squarespace site

One line of code, pasted once, in a panel Squarespace already gives you. After this you'll never touch your website again — popups get published from your phone.

Takes about five minutes · You'll need a Business plan or higher

Before you start: Squarespace only offers Code Injection on Business plans and above. If you're on a Personal plan you won't see the panel described below. You can upgrade, or get in touch and we'll talk through your options.

  1. Copy your DailyPopup snippet

Sign in to DailyPopup and open the install screen. You'll see a single line of code that already has your unique site key in it. Copy the whole thing.

    <script src="https://dailypopup.com/embed.js" data-dailypopup="YOUR-KEY" async></script>

Your real snippet will have an actual key where YOUR-KEY is. Don't edit it.

  2. Open Code Injection in Squarespace

From your Squarespace dashboard, go to Website → Website Tools → Code Injection.

On older sites this lives under Settings → Advanced → Code Injection instead. Either path lands on the same panel, which has two big boxes labelled Header and Footer.

  3. Paste it into the Header box

Paste the snippet into the Header field. Not the Footer — the popup needs to load with the page.

If there's already something in that box, just add yours on a new line underneath. It won't interfere with anything else in there.

  4. Save, then check the live site

Click Save. Then open your real website in a new tab — not the Squarespace editor preview, which doesn't run injected code.

Publish a test popup in DailyPopup, reload your site, and it should appear about two seconds after the page loads. Set that test to a short run time and it'll clear itself.

If it doesn't show up

You're looking at the editor preview

This is the most common one. Squarespace doesn't run Code Injection inside the editing preview. Open your live domain in a separate tab.

It went in the Footer box

Move it to Header and save again.

Nothing is scheduled

The snippet only draws a popup when one is actually running. Check that your test popup is live and hasn't already expired.

You already dismissed it today

Popups show once per visitor per day by design. Open a private window to see it again.

Common questions

Will it slow my Squarespace site down?

No. The script is tiny and loads asynchronously after your page, so it never blocks rendering. It also draws in an isolated container, so it can't clash with your template's styles.

Do I need to add it to every page?

No. Code Injection applies site-wide, so pasting it once covers every page.

Can I remove it later?

Yes. Delete the line from the Header box and save. Nothing else on your site changes.

I'd rather not touch the code at all.

That's what white glove setup is for — we install it on your site for you, usually within two business days. See pricing.
